It was quite the battle with Mother Nature on Monday as the 5th edition of the Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship visited the Links Course at The GC’s of Lawsonia. It was one of those days where the wide open landscape would rely on a familiar defense, with winds gusting up to 30 mph. 

The 2020 WPGA Match Play Championship came to a close on Wednesday. With the event undergoing a facelift just a few years back, this year’s edition ended up featuring a hybrid of that facelift. The Wisconsin PGA continued its march through the final month of the 2020 tournament season on Monday. A field of 34 two-player teams traveled to Pleasant View GC in Middleton, to play the Woods and Lake nines at the 27-hole facility. The day marked the first of the two annual Fall Pro-Pros on the calendar.

The final regular season pro-am on the WPGA tournament schedule came to a close early Monday evening. A sold-out field of twenty-five teams make the trek to Janesville CC for the seventh four-player pro-am of the abbreviated season. 

It was a textbook example of how to come from behind to win a golf tournament. On a day where winds would gust up to 35 mph, Tuesday brought the storyline of a player going low early, posting a great score, and then letting the leaders come back to them.

The field at the Wisconsin State Senior Open had been soaked, wind-blown and chilled to the bone for two straight days when Michael Crowley stepped to the tee on the par-3 17th hole at Nakoma GC in Madison early Wednesday evening.

The annual Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles Pro-Assistant made its yearly appearance on Monday. The always fun and laid back day brought together 86 players to tee it up at the challenging Pine Hills CC in Sheboygan.

It was a hot and breezy day as a sold out field traveled to Hidden Glen GC in Cedarburg for the Summer Pro-Ladies on Monday. After a needed adjustment to the WPGA schedule due to Covid-19, the two Pro-Ladies sites for 2020 consolidated into just one. Twenty-four five player teams from throughout the Section would make up Monday’s field.

Harrison Ott won a memorable eight-hole sudden-death playoff over Thomas Longbella at the 2018 Wisconsin State Amateur Championship, but his victory in the Wisconsin State Open Wednesday – over Longbella and others – was even more impressive. And much, much quicker.
