The Wisconsin Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (WPGA) announces the 2023 Players of the Year. The action-packed season was again filled with some outstanding golf from Wisconsin PGA professionals. From April until late fall the award winners performed at a high level both on a local and national stage. For the first time since 2017 each honoree won the 36-hole stroke play championship for their respective category for the Wisconsin PGA. In addition, this class of award winners each won multiple events in 2023.
Read More »The 47th playing of the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship will visit PGA Golf Club on Thursday-Sunday, November 16-19. This year’s championship will venture back to the Port St. Lucie, FL club for the 28th straight year. The 132-player field includes Assistant Professional PGA Members or registered Assistant Professional PGA Associates that have advanced into at least level two of the PGA PGM Education Program. All 41 PGA sections will be represented this week.
Read More »Mark Voeller was unanimously elected as the 33rd Wisconsin PGA president on Monday morning at the association’s fall board of directors meeting. The PGA professional and manager at Golf Galaxy Brookfield is taking over the presidency from Michael O’Reilly of Kohler Golf. O’Reilly wrapped up a two year term that included the Wisconsin PGA’s centennial and fundraising campaign in conjunction with it. He also played a key role in a marketing initiative that ran during the past five years, which promoted Wisconsin PGA professionals and careers in golf.
Read More »The Senior PGA Professional Championship wrapped up on Sunday, October 29 at PGA Golf Club. It was another exciting championship, as 264 of the best PGA professionals from throughout the 41 PGA Sections battled it out. In the end Bob Sowards of the Southern Ohio PGA would come out on top and earn his second Senior PGA Professional Championship victory. Over course of the four days the Wisconsin PGA was well represented by Mick Smith, Brad Lanning, Michael Crowley and Kurt Mantyla.
Read More »The 35th Senior PGA Professional Championship presented by Cadillac and supported by the GOLF Channel will kick off on Thursday, October 26. This year’s championship will once again take place on the Wanamaker and Ryder Courses at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL. It marks the 14th time that PGA Golf Club has hosted the championship.

From mid-March until mid-October the WPGA conducted a wide range of event offerings, which were attended by WPGA members and associates plus amateurs and unaffiliated professionals. Over 3,300 participants teed it up along the way, with more than seventy-five of them being recognized as champions with trophies from Sterling Cut Glass.
Read More »The countdown to the end of the WPGA tournament season continued on Monday, as the always popular Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship made its visit to The GC’s of Lawsonia. For the eighth straight season the event put a cherry on top of another successful WPGA Four-Player Pro-Am Series. It brought together the top finishing teams from throughout the nine regular season events, to see who could take home this year’s title.
Read More »The Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles Fall Pro-Pro Better Ball made its annual appearance on the WPGA tournament calendar on Monday. A definitive sign that the tournament season was winding down. However with the misleading weather, the 98 WPGA professionals in the field would have thought there was a least a few more months left in the tournament season. The first Monday of October would produce an absolutely gorgeous day in the mid 80s. Starting out as an ideal day for scoring, it would get more challenging as the winds would pick up as the day went on.

The ninth and final regular season event of 2023 would visit Hidden Glen Golf Club in Cedarburg. A sold out field of twenty-nine teams would gather for Monday’s event, as they’d look to tackle the always challenging P.B. Dye layout.
