Mark Voeller was unanimously elected as the 33rd Wisconsin PGA president on Monday morning at the association’s fall board of directors meeting. The PGA professional and manager at Golf Galaxy Brookfield is taking over the presidency from Michael O’Reilly of Kohler Golf. O’Reilly wrapped up a two year term that included the Wisconsin PGA’s centennial and fundraising campaign in conjunction with it. He also played a key role in a marketing initiative that ran during the past five years, which promoted Wisconsin PGA professionals and careers in golf.

Voeller is currently in his 22nd year as a PGA member and has served on the association’s board of directors since 2016. He was honored by the Wisconsin PGA with the Golf Professional of the Year award in 2022. During his board tenure he has spent time as the chairperson of both the tournament policy board and membership committee.

In addition to his efforts to help the section in the board room, the Whitewater native has accumulated an impressive playing record throughout the years. His playing accolades include the WPGA Member Match Play title in 2009, Wisconsin Assistant Professional Stroke Play title in 2000, and participating on 21 Wisconsin PGA Nelthorpe Cup teams (5th overall in most appearances).

“I feel very fortunate to get the opportunity to represent my fellow WPGA professionals as their president,” Voeller said. “I look forward to continuing to work with our membership, fellow PGA sections, and the allied associations, to continue to make the game of golf better.”

Joining Voeller on the executive committee for his two year term will be Matt Taken (vice president) and Danny Rainbow (secretary) of SentryWorld GC.

After the board meeting concluded the Wisconsin PGA general membership meeting kicked off at Noon. Over 200 WPGA professionals gathered to get updated on the section’s affairs and also hear a great Q&A from Milwaukee Bucks General Manager, Jon Horst. Team building and leadership were a central theme of the Q&A.

The WPGA members in attendance would also make their voices be heard as four at-large board positions were up for grabs. After the votes were tallied, Rainbow, Shaun Finley (The Oaks GC), James Kelly (West Bend CC) and Scott Walecki (Brown Deer GC) were re-elected to their board positions.
