The 57th playing of the StrackaLine WPGA Match Play Championship kicked off this past Monday, as the championship visited Glen Erin GC in Janesville for the first time. The field of WPGA members battled some wet and cool conditions throughout Monday, before they were greeted with sunny and warm weather on Tuesday. Over the course of the two days the seeding/qualifying round and first three rounds of Match Play would take place.
Read More »The Wisconsin PGA tournament schedule wrapped up the month of April on Wednesday, as the Section teamed up with the Wisconsin Golf Course Superintendents Association. The successful partnership once again produced the Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles Super-Pro. This year’s edition traveled just north of last year’s site as it visited the always well conditioned Washington County GC.

For the second time in three years the event produced a sold-out field, featuring fifty-two teams. It also marked the third year in a row that the tournament has visited Beloit Club.

The first of the final two pro-pro events of the season would see the duos attempt to tackle the newly renovated Abbey Springs GC in Fontana. With little to no wind and pleasant temperatures the teams would see who could go the lowest in the four-ball stroke play format.

Once again a full field of twenty-nine teams would make their way to The GC’s of Lawsonia to enjoy the always fun Links Course. The field would be made up of teams that earned their way into the championship throughout the regular season, along with a few additional invitees.

Over 100 players from throughout the Wisconsin Section made their way to central Wisconsin to enjoy SentryWorld. The players were treated to a first class experience from start to finish. From the fantastic course conditions to the inclusive on-course amenities, the players were definitely impressed.

After being derailed by thunderstorms back in June, the rescheduled Hornung’s Classic would make its annual stop at South Hills G&CC. It marked just the second time the event has been forced to take place later in the calendar in the past 15 years.

The field was fortunate to experience a beautiful September day, as twenty-nine teams made the trip to Tuckaway CC for the PXG Pro-Am. Making the most of their trip south was the squad from Horseshoe Bay GC. Having traveled the farthest of the teams in the field the foursome of Jamie Christianson, Andrew Morel, Brad Hitt and Tim Schwecke was able to get the job done.

Read More »Jim Schuman won the Wisconsin State Senior Open Championship for the fourth time Wednesday afternoon, tying the record for overall wins in the championship, which was inaugurated in 1985. Schuman, who lives in Menomonee Falls, earned a three-stroke victory at Hidden Glen GC in Cedarburg on a day that the private club played even more difficult than usual. Schuman’s final-round 71 was the only under-par score recorded Wednesday.
