The second and final WPGA Pro-Ladies event of the season would come to a close on Monday evening. It was another fantastic day for golf, as twenty-three teams were blessed with a picture perfect day.

After visiting Bishops Bay CC for the spring edition, the summer version would venture to Brown Deer Park GC. The club would be hosting a WPGA Pro-Ladies pro-am for the first time.

Once again it was a day filled with camaraderie, with plenty of laughter and storytelling throughout. Although the fun factor is first and foremost at the pro-ladies, the teams still had their eyes set on the top prize.

For the second straight pro-ladies the host club would find the top of the leaderboard. The home course knowledge proved to be key, as the group of Scott Walecki, Kristin Smith, Susan Kolbe, Lina Cicero and Nancy Tolocko would secure the win. Their 20-under-par 124 score gave them a two shot victory over the Ryan Southworth led Geneva National squad.

The winning team would pile up sixteen net birdies and three net eagles over the course of the round.

Southworth would however get the win in the low professional stableford event. The Rhode Island native fired a 65, accumulating an impressive 43 stableford points. The total gave him a one point victory over his Geneva National colleague, Charlie Brown. For Brown the score would be enough to take home the low senior stableford contest.

In addition to the standard team contest and low pro events, the day would also feature some closest to the pin contests for the lady amateurs. Taking home some brand new golf bags from XXIO were:

#3 – Marilee Potter
#5 – Georgeanne Carleton
#7 – Anne Schlageter
#11 – Gayle Perkins
#14 – Katie Mosey

The WPGA would like to express our appreciation to XXIO Golf for supporting this year’s Pro-Ladies – Summer Event. In addition, we’d like to thank everyone at Milwaukee County Parks and Brown Deer Park GC for being a gracious host.
