The Wisconsin PGA tournament schedule continued to cruise through the month of June on Monday. After weather got the best of the four-player pro-am series a few weeks back at Bishops Bay CC, the series was back in action at Abbey Springs GC.

The sunset was starting to look pretty darn good to Elise Hoven as it relates to her golf career. And what she did on a sun-splashed Wednesday at Meadowbrook Country Club with such great composure and such unflappable execution doesn’t change where Hoven sees herself a year from now.

Monday afternoon ended a crazy week of golf for Michael Crowley. The Morningstar GC head PGA Professional would cap off a run of seven straight days of competitive golf by teeing it up in the 53rd Hornung’s Classic at South Hills G&CC. If it wasn’t for a pro-am rainout on the Monday prior, Crowley could have tacked on another day to the streak. 

Dave Spengler was a match-play champion in his heyday. Known by his nickname, “Sponge,” Spengler has a big, gregarious personality and, in his heyday, had a golf game to match it.

The annual Wisconsin PGA Pro-Ladies series would make its first appearance of 2024 on Tuesday. A sold-out field of 24 fivesomes would venture to The Legend at Bristlecone in Hartland for a fun day of camaraderie and golf. The two-event series would take on a small twist in 2024, as Tuesday would feature the traditional one professional and four lady amateur format, while the Summer edition in August is going to have teams of four.

The 16th playing of The Legend Challenge – Scratch Pro-Am made its usual late May appearance on Tuesday. Once again the two-player better ball event brought together some of the top amateurs and professionals throughout the state.

With a doom and gloom forecast, the odds of completing the XXIO Double Dip Pro-Am at the beginning of Monday were not looking good. Fortunately for the participants that made the trek to Oneida G&CC, the storms would stay away just enough for the event to be completed. The event did feature a short delay prior to play starting but overall it turned out to be a very tolerable day.

The 84th playing of the Senior PGA Championship will get underway on Thursday, May 23 and run until Sunday, May 26 at Harbor Shores Golf Club in Michigan. Five Wisconsin natives have made the short journey over to Benton Harbor and will be teeing it up this week.

David Bach’s prodigious length off the tee and his familiarity with the Kohler Co. courses gave him a pair of advantages going into the Wisconsin PGA Match Play Championship. That doesn’t mean it was going to be easy. Match play never is.

The 2024 WPGA pro-am season got underway with a bang on Wednesday as the TaylorMade Pro-Am supported by Tito’s Vodka and the American Family Insurance Championship would visit Erin Hills. It marked the first time that the series has visited Erin Hills and gave the attendees an opportunity to see the course before it officially opened for the season.
