Mick Smith has lived in Wisconsin for about 10 years now, and he has certainly put down roots in the Badger State during his time here.

The 49th playing of the Assistant PGA Professional Championship is set to take place on Thursday-Sunday, November 13-17. This year’s championship will venture back to PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL for the 30th straight year. Players will take on the challenging Dye Course for the entirety of the 72-hole championship. 

The 37th Senior PGA Professional Championship will kick off on Thursday, October 23 and run until Sunday, October 26. This year’s championship will be hosted by PGA Golf Club for the 16th time.

The 45th playing of the U.S. Senior Open will kick off on Thursday, June 26 and run until Sunday, June 29 on the East Course at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.

The field at this week’s Senior PGA Championship will number 156 players, including some mostly unknown professionals from across America as well as big names from around the golf globe.

The 57th PGA Professional Championship kicks off on Sunday, April 27 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The Wisconsin PGA will be represented by five PGA professionals in this year’s 312 player field. Each individual earned a spot into the event with their play at the Wisconsin PGA Professional Championship last September at the Wisconsin CC.

The Wisconsin Section PGA recently announced plans to recognize a few key individuals in the state golf community who are not PGA of America members but nonetheless have made significant contributions to the game and the section. The Wisconsin PGA annually presents a slate of awards to members, but these honors are different.

Danny Rainbow, Director of Golf at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and a Member of the Wisconsin PGA Section, is the recipient of the 2025 PGA of America Merchandiser of the Year Award – Resort Category. The award recognizes PGA of America Golf Professionals who have excelled in business and merchandising in the promotion of golf.
