Another great day of golf and camaraderie was had as the regular season of the WPGA Four-Player Pro-Am Series came to a close on Monday. The ninth and final regular season event of 2023 would visit Hidden Glen Golf Club in Cedarburg.
A sold out field of twenty-nine teams would gather for Monday’s event, as they’d look to tackle the always challenging P.B. Dye layout.
The layout is certainly one that caters to individuals that have played it multiple times. With a few blind shots and difficult greens, the winning team was most likely going to come from the home club or others that have seen and played it.
Finding their way to the top of the leaderboard were two teams from right down the road in Mequon. Teams from North Shore Country Club would duke it throughout the day. They assumed the top spots early on and would never look back.
Securing the one-shot win was the Joaquin Diaz, John Fitzgibbon, Chris Cowie and Travis Diener squad. They would put up a top-notch score of 18-under-par 126 in the two net best ball team format. Over the course of their eighteen holes the teammates would make 10 gross birdies. They would be led by Cowie as he would card a 6-under-par 66 net score on Monday.
Finishing just one shot back was the foursome of Eric Keeler, Matt Goebel, Michael Steinmetz and Cameron Marotta.
With their play both teams would punch their ticket into the season-ending Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship at The GC’s of Lawsonia.
The low professional stableford competition would feature another close contest. Firing 2-under-par 70s and accumulating 38 stableford points was a foursome of WPGA professionals. David Roesch, Steven Young, Joe Leonard and Ryan Helminen would all shoot the winning mark.
Among the senior professionals, the duo of Michael Crowley and Ben Fahrenholz would each earn 36 stableford points to lead the way.
Helping present a great day for all the attendees were our event partners. A big thank you goes out to Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles, Prestwick Golf Group and Tito’s Vodka for their sponsorship of the Hidden Glen Pro-Am.
We’d also like to thank the members and staff at Hidden Glen GC for hosting Monday’s contest. The club is always a willing host and we greatly appreciate their support of WPGA tournaments.
