The Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles Fall Pro-Pro Better Ball made its annual appearance on the WPGA tournament calendar on Monday. A definitive sign that the tournament season was winding down.

However with the misleading weather, the 98 WPGA professionals in the field would have thought there was a least a few more months left in the tournament season.

The first Monday of October would produce an absolutely gorgeous day in the mid 80s. Starting out as an ideal day for scoring, it would get more challenging as the winds would pick up as the day went on.

Several groups would get off to a hot start but then stall out as their holes dwindled. A trend that was a possibly produced by the changing conditions.

One team that was able to play consistent golf throughout, were the Bach brothers. The duo of Jason and David Bach would get their round underway on the back-nine. They would go bogey-free and get to 4-under-par at the turn. Birdieing nos. 11, 12, 13 and 17 on their first nine holes.

More birdies would come on the front side. All told they would birdie each of the four par 5s. A misstep however would come on the difficult par-4 8th, as both players would make bogey. Their only blemish on the scorecard.

That misstep would be quickly erased as David would finish off the round with a birdie on the 168 yard par-3 9th. A birdie that would turn out to be the difference maker.

Their seven birdie and one bogey better ball round would leave them at 6-under-par 65.

A group of five different twosomes would make a solid effort to catch them, but ultimately each group would come up one shot short of carding the low mark.

The Bach’s are first brother-brother tandem to win a Wisconsin PGA pro-pro since 1994.

A big thank you goes out to all of our event partners on Monday. Title partner, Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles, was front and center. Providing key support to the day. Also contributing and enhancing the day were StrackaLine, Cobra Puma Golf and Earth Networks.

The WPGA would also like to express our gratitude to the members and staff at Pine Hills CC. The course was in terrific shape and the staff provided first class service for the attendees.

A special thank you goes out to host professional John Wallrich. Over the course of John’s 34 years at Pine Hills he has always taken great pride in hosting Wisconsin PGA events. From State Opens to one-day tournaments, every event was hosted with the same attention to detail and organization.
