96 Boys and Girls competing at Whistling Straits for a trip to the Finals

Whistling Straits, LogoOn Saturday, September 8th, 96 boys and girls ages 7-15 will tackle Wisconsin’s very own Whistling Straits with hopes of completing the last leg of qualifying towards the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals at Augusta National.

The field includes the Sub-Regional qualifiers from the Minnesota PGA, Wisconsin PGA and Illinois PGA. This means kids from North Dakota, Canada, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa are making the trip to the home of the 2020 Ryder Cup. With 96 boys and girls in the field, that gives each age and gender division 12 contestants—one out of those 12 in each category will advance to the National Finals on April 7, 2019-the Sunday before the start of Masters Week.

Representing the Wisconsin Sub Regional Qualifiers are: Eli Havens, Carston Harstad, Brett Wieland, Ben Hilbelink, Allison Guiser, Laila Ehiorobo, Treva Dodd, Sarah Balding, Jackson Bichanich, Ty Bichanich, William Harned, Collin Barry, Mya Bindl, Presley Stam, Cassandra Psuik, Ava Salay, Grant Lawton, Payne Wood, Sam Udovich, Logan Pechinski, Taylor Thor, McKenna Nelson, Kathryn VanArragon, Isabella McCauley, Ryan Geary, AJ Diller, Andrew Rudolf and Zeke Boos.

Starting times are live on our junior golf website: www.wiscjuniorgolf.com/drivechipputt. Each contestant will hit three drives into a 40 yard wide grid and get points based on accuracy and length. From there, they hit three chips into a bullseye like setup on the green and accumulate points based on proximity to the hole. Similar to chipping, the putting competition calls for three putts at a similar bullseye set up-a 6 foot putt, 15 foot putt, and a 30 foot putt. That makes 9 shots total to get an overall score. The top overall score in each age and gender category wins the competition and advances.
