(Tuckaway CC Fivesome)
To cap off the month of August the Wisconsin PGA brought together another sold-out field for the Summer Pro-Ladies. This year’s version would venture to Racine Country Club on Monday.
The event got off to a bumpy start as severe weather rolled into the area shortly after the start of play. The saying “all’s well that ends well” summed up the day just fine. After an hour and half delay play would resume and eventually the field would be greeted with partly sunny skies for the remainder of their round.
Finding their way to the top of the leaderboard were two former champions of the event. The squads of Kurt Mantyla, Sami Mantyla, Karen Schmid, Pat Roisum and Jill Trider would end up in a draw with the Tuckaway CC team of Victor Jacinto, Emily Jahimiak, Lisa Sperka, Julie Berquist and Kristen Sharafinski. Each fivesome would post an impressive 17-under-par 127 score in the two net best ball event. Mantyla’s team last found the winner’s circle in 2020 and Jacinto’s team did so just last year.
In the scorecard playoff to see who would take home the first place trophies, Jacinto’s squad would beat Mantyla’s team on the no. 1 handicap hole.
The low pro contest would feature some equally good play as Geneva National Resort’s Drew Ringelstetter would earn the top spot with a 3-under-par 69. Finishing just one shot back and earning the low senior professional honors was Mantyla.
The Wisconsin PGA would like to express our appreciation to Racine CC for hosting. Their staff and membership have been very gracious over the past month. They’ve hosted Wisconsin State Open Qualifying, the Pro-Ladies and the WPGA Junior Tour in that span.
