The annual Wisconsin PGA Pro-Ladies series would make its first appearance of 2024 on Tuesday. A sold-out field of 24 fivesomes would venture to The Legend at Bristlecone in Hartland for a fun day of camaraderie and golf.
The two-event series would take on a small twist in 2024, as Tuesday would feature the traditional one professional and four lady amateur format, while the Summer edition in August is going to have teams of four.
With an ominous forecast going into Tuesday, the field was keeping their fingers crossed that the rain would stay away.
The day started off great but unfortunately as the teams approached their final holes of play, the storms finally hit The Legend at Bristlecone. The result would be a shortened team contest and cancelled low pro and skin games.
Per the WPGA pro-am guidelines for weather shortened events, the team with the least amount of holes completed would determine the number of holes to base the team contest on. The two net contest would end up utilizing the first 13 holes each team played, and standings would be created off how many under/over par a team was at the time.
Grabbing hold of the winner trophies was The Legend Clubs group of Nathan Goecks, Julie Hall, Linda Nadeau, Denise DiChristopher and Kris Natalizio. The lady amateurs would make seven net birdies and Goecks would help out with three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 7th. The impressive play would lead them to an 11-under-par score. Good enough to hold off the David Roesch led team by one shot.
It marked the third straight Spring Pro-Ladies that a club from the host facility was able to get the victory.
In addition to the team contest, the day would also feature some fun hole prizes for the lady amateurs. Taking home some great items from Wilson Golf and the American Family Insurance Championship were:
Longest Putt
#2 – Linda Nadeau
Closest to the Pin
#4 – Grace Suter
#6 – Sami Mantyla
#12 – Janna Rosa
#14 – Kim Schroeppel
#17 – Laura Schlageter
The WPGA would like to express our appreciation to Wilson Golf for supporting this year’s Spring Pro-Ladies – Five Player Event. In addition, we’d like to express our gratitude to The Legend at Bristlecone for hosting the Wisconsin PGA for the second time in eight days.
