WILSON GOLF
DOUBLE DIP PRO-AM
TITLE SPONSOR

(Jon Poletti, Cody Strang, Jason Schroeder & Bill Bull)

The Double Dip delivered once again on Monday. It was another exciting day, as the annual pro-am format provided plenty of contests to track.

The dual team formats would include each foursome participating in a two net best ball event. Then the professional on the team would be paired up with each amateur in a one net of two game. There also was three skin games and low professional/low senior professional contests.

One thing the players did not have to worry about was the weather. An absolutely gorgeous early July day was packed with plenty of sunshine and just a light breeze.

The weather set the stage for a closely contested battle for the title in all the main contests.

In the four-player contest The Legend at Bergmaont team of Cody Strang, Jon Poletti, Jason Schroeder and Bill Bull would match the Foy Swenson, Ron Fryer, Peter Hahm and Andy Sturmberg group. Each team would card an impressive 20-under-par 122.

Strang’s team navigated their way to the mark via a string of consistent golf. They did not play one hole over par. As for Swenson’s squad, they dominated the nine par 4s by going 13-under-par on those holes.

The Legend at Bergamont team got a leg up on the Swenson team in the end, as they earned the winner trophies via a scorecard playoff.

For Strang and Swenson, they helped their team earn a spot in the Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship. They’ll be joined by the third place finishers from Tripoli CC, which were led by Austin Schloesser.

In the two-player game, Strang would keep the momentum going. He teamed up with Bill Bull to card an 11-under-par 60 in the one net contest. They made nine net birdies and one net eagle to hold off four other teams by one shot.

Lastly, the low professional and low senior professional stableford events delivered some great golf. Ryan Helminen ended up sweeping the two contests by piling up 42 points. His bogey-free round was highlighted by four birdies and an eagle.

The Double Dip Pro-Am would not have been possible without the support of title partner, Wilson Golf. Once again the company did a great job of enhancing the day, by providing golf balls to every player and bumping up the purse. We’d like to thank Wilson Golf for their continued support of the Wisconsin PGA.

We also would like to express our gratitude to everyone at The Legend at Bristlecone. The club and staff takes great pride in hosting and always provides the players with a great product to enjoy.
