The 2024 WPGA tournament season came to a close on Monday amidst the fantastic backdrop of the sand dunes of Sand Valley Resort. After more than 45 events during the past six months, the Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles Fall Pro-Pro Better Ball would put a bow on the season.

Monday marked the first opportunity for the Wisconsin PGA to utilize Sand Valley Resort as a host venue and it certainly did not disappoint. Ninety-Six WPGA members and associates would get a glimpse of the newly opened Sedge Valley Course. The excitement has been building after event registration sold out in under three days in late August.

After an unseasonably warm start to the fall, the WPGA would was certainly due for some fall conditions. Cool temps, overcast skies and a little breeze would accompany the day, but it would not dampen the mood.

With just one par-5 on the Par 68 layout and challenging Tom Doak designed greens, the field certainly had their work cut for them.

Ignoring the challenging conditions and putting up the best four-ball stroke play score on the day was the duo of Cody Strang and Tim McCormick. The Legend at Bergamont and Hawks Landing assistant professionals would go bogey-free over the course of the round. Birdies on no. 2, 3, 9, 11, 13 and 18 would propel them to the winning mark. Their round was just good enough to win by one shot over a trio of teams, Chris Zachman and Drew Zimmerman, Blake Jens and Emmet Herb, and Mark Voeller and Danny Lemanske.

It is the first professional victory for the assistant professionals since becoming PGA associates. Each member of the winning team was able to take home $730 for the win.

The WPGA was fortunate to a have a great collection of event partners on Monday. Teams were able to play for a great purse and take home some fantastic parting gifts through the support of Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles, Evolve Golf, Visit Rome Wisconsin, and Cobra Puma Golf. A big thank you goes out to all four entities.

The WPGA would also like to thank everyone at Sand Valley Resort. The staff was very engaged and helpful throughout the hosting process. As for the Sedge Valley course, it received rave review from all the attendees.
