The Wisconsin PGA Four-Player Pro-Am Series would make its annual pilgrimage to Destination Kohler on Monday. It marked the tenth time that the series has been fortunate to enjoy the hospitality and service of the five-star resort. Once again the most popular pro-am on the WPGA schedule would feature a sold-out field with several teams on the waitlist.

This year’s version of the X Golf Milwaukee Pro-Am would see teams tackling the Irish Course at Whistling Straits. As always the course provided plenty of challenge and enjoyment.

The four-player main contest would again have teams looking to put up their best two net score over the course of eighteen holes. Navigating some breezy conditions and getting the job done was the group of John Knoll, Seth Sneider, John Dahmen and Justin Bates. They ended up carding a 19-under-par 125 in the team format. Their consistency led the way as they only played one hole over par all day. Their winning mark was good enough to hold off one of the home squads led by David Bach, by just one shot.

With their team performance, Knoll, Bach and Josh Grisa, were able to earn a spot into the Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship in October.

Taking home the low professional crown on Monday was Ryan Helminen. He posted a 3-under-par 69 to give him a winning total of 39 stableford points. Good enough to win by two points over Bach, Brad Lanning and Joe Leonard. For Lanning the 37 points would help him secure the low senior professional win.

In addition to the three main contests, the day would also feature some fun proxy contests on the par 3s for the amateurs. Taking home some great prizes via adidas Golf and Tito’s were;

#3 – Steve Brault, #6 – Drew Matson, #11 – Steve Nakada, #13 – Derek Strohm

X Golf Milwaukee also sweetened the day with a few Sim-Time giveaways. Foy Swenson’s group would earn one certificate by playing the par 3s the best and the other one would go to the Joe Leonard group via a random draw.

As always the WPGA Four-Player Pro-Am Series would not be possible without the great support of our events partners. First and foremost we’d like to thank title partner, X Golf Brookfield/AmFam Field/Mequon/Appleton. Additionally, our appreciation goes out to Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles, adidas Golf and Tito’s Vodka for their contributions to the day.

Destination Kohler once again rolled out the red carpet for the attendees. It was another great day with first-class service and offerings. The Wisconsin PGA can’t say thank you enough to Destination Kohler for hosting not only the Irish Course Pro-Am on Monday, but also letting the WPGA conduct their member match play championship earlier this year.
