Andy Runkel of The Bog, along with teammates Kyle Trimble, Greg Janssen and Brent Neis, capped the Wisconsin PGA Four-Player Pro-Am Series regular season in winning fashion Monday, September 21, capturing the series finale at La Crosse Country Club.
The foursome finished two shots clear of the Dave Zorn-led Eau Claire Golf & Country Club team after navigating rainy conditions during the second half of the event.
While each member of the winning team contributed to the victory, Neis delivered the standout performance that pushed the group into the top spot. He recorded eight net birdies and a net eagle during the round.
With the victory, the Runkel-led team earned a spot in the season-ending Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship. The Zorn-led Eau Claire Golf & Country Club team also qualified, while the Joe DeRosa-led La Crosse Country Club team claimed the third and final spot.
In the Low Pro Stableford competition, Michael Crowley and Josh Grisa each carded a 2-under-par 70, with five birdies apiece on their scorecards, to finish with 38 points and share the top spot. Crowley also claimed the Low Senior professional title with his round.
The Wisconsin PGA extends its appreciation to the staff and membership at La Crosse Country Club for hosting a great event, as well as Scott Cole and Cole Golf Travel for helping to enhance the day by sponsoring the competition.
With the regular season complete, the qualifying teams now turn their attention to the Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship on October 5.
