The WPGA Las Vegas Pro-Am wrapped up this past Thursday after four days of golf, camaraderie and entertainment. A sold-out field of 50 teams, made up of one professional and four amateurs, ventured to sin city to enjoy the week. Registration for the trip was so sought after that it sold out within an hour of opening up.
This year’s trip featured lodging at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, with rounds at Cascata, the Paiute Golf Resort’s Wolf Course, and TPC Las Vegas. Teams represented thirty-five different facilities from throughout Wisconsin and the amateur attendees came from seven different states.
The battle for this year’s title was just as hard fought as it was in 2021. With perfect weather conditions on the first two days the field was given the green light to go low. When the 54 holes was complete the victory went to the Ridgeway CC team of PGA General Manager Scott LeMire, and amateurs Jim VanVonderen, Lee Roth, Terry MacDonald and Clifton Kreuscher. The fivesome was steady throughout the event, with daily finishes of a tie for third at the Wolf Course, first place at Cascata, and second place at TPC Las Vegas. Their team score of 47-under-par 386 was good enough to win by two shots over the David Roesch led North Hills CC team and the X Golf Mequon / Golf Galaxy team with Brian Brodell.
The four-shot win by the group in the 2-net competition at Cascata turned out to be the catalyst to their overall victory. The list of the daily team winners across the two groups were;
Group A – Monday – Paiute Wolf – 1 Net/1 Gross Best Ball – Hidden Glen GC (Fischer)
Group A – Tuesday – Cascata – 2 Net Best Ball – Ridgeway CC (LeMire)
Group A – Wednesday – TPC Las Vegas – 1,2,3 Net Best Ball – North Hills CC (Roesch)
Group B – Monday – Cascata – 2 Net Best Ball – The Bog (Runkel)
Group B – Tuesday – TPC Las Vegas – 1,2,3 Net Best Ball – Morningstar GC (Crowley)
Group B – Wednesday – Paiute Wolf – 1 Net/1 Gross Best Ball – X Golf Mequon / Golf Galaxy (Brodell)
In addition, the event also featured daily low professional stableford events. Earning the win in those competitions were;
Group A – Monday – Paiute Wolf – David Roesch
Group A – Tuesday – Cascata – David Roesch
Group A – Wednesday – TPC Las Vegas – Jake Wisniewski
Group B – Monday – Cascata – Matt Taken & Derek Schnarr
Group B – Tuesday – TPC Las Vegas – Brian Brodell
Group B – Wednesday – Paiute Wolf – Zach Gaugert
A big thank you goes out to our event partners, The Suter Ward Group at Morgan Stanley (Vince Suter), TaylorMade Golf (Steve Ploch & Hunter Mahler), and Nike Golf (Joe Ritchie). The trio of companies did another great job of dressing up and enhancing the trip.
