(John Shipshock, Adam Wepfer and Ben Rudolph from Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles)
A pleasant April day presented a great backdrop for the participants of the WPGA / WGCSA Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles Super-Pro on Wednesday. The field of sixty-four players made their way to Blackhawk CC in Madison to enjoy a nice afternoon away from the job. Eighteen twosomes were set to compete in the traditional division of play, featuring one WPGA affiliated professional and one WGCSA member from the same facility. The second division was made up of fourteen teams, which included all other teams including a pro/super team that did not have a handicap index.
Taking home the bragging rights for the year and winning the traditional division of play was the Bishops Bay CC team of John Shipshock and Adam Wepfer. In the net modified chapman alternate shot format they were able to card a gross score of 73. Included in that gross score was three birdies and a very impressive 2-under-par 34 on the back nine. After applying their handicap of 7.05, (half of superintendent’s handicap trend) they were able to post a 65.95 net score. The score turned out to 1.4 shots better than second place finishers Luke Scharf and Jim VanHerwynen from South Hills G&CC. The Bishops Bay CC squad becomes the fifth different winning team in the past five years.
In the second division of play it was the Sand Valley Resort duo of Steve Cashore and RJ Budd taking the top spot. They ended up posting a 74 gross score, which converted down to a 71.50 after applying their handicap.
A big thank you goes out to Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles and their company representatives for title sponsoring the Super-Pro once again. The company has been involved with the event for countless years and their contribution again helped make it a terrific day for all the attendees. The WPGA would also like to express our appreciation to Prestwick Golf Group for lending a helping hand as a supporting sponsor of the event.
The WPGA would also like to acknowledge the effort that Blackhawk CC and their staff put into hosting. The day also presented a great chance for the club to showcase their recent changes to the clubhouse.
