(Paul Herrick, Eric Johnson, Erik Stenseth and Jeff Sanger)
The WPGA wrapped up the eighth and final four-player regular season pro-am on Monday. A sold out field of 128 players ventured to lake country to enjoy Chenequa Country Club. The day provided an extension of summer, with plenty of sunshine and humidity accompanying the players throughout their round.
Tackling the 1, 2, 3 net best ball format the best was the squad of Erik Stenseth, Paul Herrick, Eric Johnson and Jeff Sanger. The foursome was able to cruise to a seven shot win with a 21-under-par 121 total. En route to the win they took full advantage of the three net best ball format on the three par 5s, as they went 8-under-par on those holes. The win marks the third victory for a Stenseth captained pro-am squad in 2018. Finishing in the runner-up position was the foursome of Matt Taken, TJ Marini, Jack Enea and Todd Swenson.
With a handful of groups near the top already qualified, the next three highest finishers were able to grab spots into the Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship on October 1st. Included in those groups were the aforementioned Matt Taken led squad, the Andy Hansen team and the Joe Stadler led foursome.
In the low professional event Taken was able to continue his successful day as beat out Andy Hansen by one shot. His 5-under-par 66 featured an impressive closing stretch as he carded four birdies in a row to finish off the day. In the low senior professional event it was Charlie Brown taking home the win with a 3-under-par 68.
Jumping on board to sponsor Monday’s event was Haas-Jordan and representative Mark Bearby. The longtime WPGA partner once again brought some good karma to the event, as the inside of the umbrellas they gave away mimicked the beautiful blue skies that all the players got to enjoy on Monday. A big thank you goes out to Haas-Jordan for their continued support.
The WPGA would also like to thank the staff and membership at Chenequa Country Club for being a gracious host. The club once again presented a great product for the sold out field to enjoy.
