A field of 46 teams of Wisconsin PGA members and associates kicked off the season at the Spring Pro-Pro Scramble on Monday at Kettle Hills GC. Supported by event sponsors Harris Golf Cars, Yamaha Golf & Utility, Range Servant, and Homestretch Golf, the event produced a day of low scoring and competitive finishes across the leaderboard.
David Bach and Jeff Perry of Whistling Straits captured the title with a 14-under-par 58, edging the field by one stroke. Beginning their round on hole no. 6 of the shotgun start, the duo quickly established momentum and closed in dramatic fashion, highlighted by an eagle on their final hole of the day—the par-5 5th. Their consistent scramble play produced nines of 30-28.
Finishing just one shot back at 13-under-par 59 were Michael Nagy of TPC Wisconsin and Barrett Kelpin of Bishops Bay CC. The 2025 champions maintained steady pressure on the leaders throughout the day but ultimately came up one stroke short.
A six-team tie for third at 8-under-par 64 included Andy Runkel and Chad Sandee, Steve Young and Tyler Wood, Dan Hastreiter and Josh Grisa, Mike Aschenbach and Nick Dockter, Mark Voeller and Jamie Christianson, and Matt Sabol and James Grogan.
Overall scoring was aggressive throughout the field, with Bach and Perry leading all teams with 12 birdies and 1 eagle for 13 total par breakers, followed by Nagy and Kelpin with 9 birdies and 2 eagles. Included in Bach and Perry’s performance was a standout back-nine stretch of seven consecutive birdies.
One of the standout moments of the day came when James Grogan and Matt Sabol holed out for an eagle 2 on the par-4 second hole from 59 yards, providing one of the most memorable shots of the tournament.
In the Closest to the Pin competition on hole no. 3, sponsored by Range Servant, Chris VanPietersom secured the prize by hitting his shot to just 4 feet, 2 inches.
A sincere thank you is extended to the staff at Kettle Hills Golf Course for their hospitality and willingness to host on short notice, as well as to our event partners Harris Golf Cars, Yamaha Golf & Utility, Range Servant, and Homestretch Golf for their continued support in making this event a success.
