WPGA MATCH PLAY
EVENT PARTNERS

The 57th playing of the StrackaLine WPGA Match Play Championship kicked off this past Monday, as the championship visited Glen Erin GC in Janesville for the first time. The field of WPGA members battled some wet and cool conditions throughout Monday, before they were greeted with sunny and warm weather on Tuesday. Over the course of the two days the seeding/qualifying round and first three rounds of Match Play would take place. For the sixth year in a row the event will wrap up over the course of the summer, versus being completed all in one week. Players will have approximately six weeks to complete the quarterfinals. Then the WPGA staff will set a date and site for the semifinals and finals to take place on one day in July / early August.

Still standing after the two days and moving on to the quarterfinals were David Bach, Brian Brodell, Charlie Brown, Joe DeRosa, Andy Hansen, Kurt Mantyla, Matt Sabol and Andrew Troyanek.

The group had an impressive Tuesday, as they knocked out seven of the top eight seeds on their way to the quarterfinals. Three of those matches were won over the course of extra holes.

As for who may have an edge going forward. Brown, DeRosa and Mantyla are all former champions and know what it takes to earn the title.

The WPGA would like to thank our event partners, StrackaLine, Ahead, and the PGA Tour, for helping make it a successful two days.

A big thank you also goes out to Glen Erin GC and their staff. The course held up terrific on Monday morning and allowed us to stay on schedule. The relentless rain would have certainly made several other courses unplayable.
