The 49th playing of the Assistant PGA Professional Championship is set to take place on Thursday-Sunday, November 13-17. This year’s championship will venture back to PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL for the 30th straight year. Players will take on the challenging Dye Course for the entirety of the 72-hole championship.
The 132-player field includes Assistant Professional PGA Members or registered Assistant Professional PGA Associates that have completed level one of the PGA PGM Education Program. Participants are from across the country, representing the 41 PGA sections.
They will be competing for a purse of $200,000, with the winner taking home $17,800.
Although their sights will be set on the winner’s trophy and the benefits that go with it, the field will first have to make the 36-hole cut to play the weekend. The top 70 and ties will move on after round two.
Representing the Wisconsin PGA in Florida will be Mike Nagy of TPC Wisconsin and Matt Sabol of Pine Hills CC. Nagy claimed the Wisconsin Assistant PGA Professional title back in July at The Bog to earn his second straight berth to the national event. While Sabol finished in a tie for 3rd among eligible players at the Wisconsin Section Championship to become the first alternate. He ultimately received a spot in the field after Cody Strang withdrew due to the birth of his first child.
