March 20 – Coronavirus Section Communication
The WPGA board of directors and tournament policy board has decided to cancel all WPGA April events. Full refunds will be provided for anyone that has registered. We will not reschedule any events until the season is back in full swing. At that time we will determine which, if any, events are rescheduled. Host facilities and sponsors have been notified. The WPGA board supports golf being open for play in Wisconsin but conducting our events is a different situation. There are many aspects of our events that are social and are a large reason why many of you participate. The ability to get together with friends and reconnect with people you haven’t seen since fall are a large component of our early season events. The fact that bars/restaurants are closed, make our normal food functions not possible. Social distancing and the ability to utilize golf cars in a normal fashion and even to conduct a safe shotgun start were all factors in the decision.
We will be considering May events one week at a time about four weeks prior to each event.
Stay healthy and be safe,
The Wisconsin PGA Section Staff and Executive Committee
March 15 – Coronavirus Section Communication
During this ever-changing strenuous time, we are all facing challenging decisions both at home and at work. Please know that the WPGA is continuing to do what we feel is in the best interest of our section employees and our members/associates.
We have decided that the WPGA office will be closed for two weeks starting on Monday, March 16. Each employee will be working remotely. They will continue to answer all emails and the phones will be forwarded. If someone is not able to answer please leave a voicemail and someone will return the call. We will do everything we can to continue to do business as usual.
This past week the WPGA Las Vegas Pro-Am was cancelled. We have also postponed the PGA HOPE training, scheduled for April 6 in Kohler.
As far as our upcoming events (ie. Pro Pros), we will continue to monitor the situation and plan to make decisions on events with about three weeks’ notice.
Stay healthy and be safe,
The Wisconsin PGA Section Staff and Executive Committee
