Jeff Ellingson of Edelweiss Chalet CC was elected as the 31st Wisconsin PGA President on Monday morning at the association’s spring board of directors meeting. The PGA General Manager is taking over the reigns from the only two-time president in the association’s history, Joel Weitz. Ellingson is going into his 14th year as a PGA member and has served on the association’s board of directors since 2010. The Mount Horeb native has been in charge of the player development committee for the past 5 years, while also heading up the the assistant professional and member promotion areas prior to that.
Joining Ellingson on the executive committee for his two year term will be Michael O’Reilly (Vice President) of Kohler Company and Mark Voeller (Secretary) of Golf Galaxy. The trio will have have a busy and fun two years, as they will oversee the Section’s involvement in the 2020 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits.
“I don’t know how to put it into words, really,” Ellingson said to Gary D’Amato of Wisconsin.Golf. “I feel so blessed to be where I am. I have such good mentors to thank, not only in golf but my parents have really showed me what it is to volunteer and make sure that I give my time. And it’s important for me to show my kids that it’s important to give their time, too.”
In addition the officer elections the WPGA’s board of directors also welcomed two new members,
