(Chris Lindberg, Bob Mandoli, Ryan Helminen & Ze Vue)
With October arriving early last week it meant that the highly anticipated Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship was right around the corner. For the fourth straight season the Wisconsin PGA closed out the pro-am series with a great day on the Links Course at The GC’s of Lawsonia. Monday marked another chance for Oliphant Golf Management and The GC’s of Lawsonia to put on a great show for the 116 attendees.
This year’s championship would be decided by the always fun go big on the par 5s event, the 1,2,3 net best ball. Taking advantage of the format and the nice course conditions on the Links Course the best was Ryan Helminen, Chris Lindberg, Bob Mandoli and Ze Vue. The format played right into their hands as they went 13-under-par on the par 5s on the way to their win. Over the course of the entire round they did not give back one stroke to par, resulting in a 23-under-par 131 total. The score earned them a four shot win over the foursome from Koshkonong Mounds CC with Matt Reel. The win marks the second time the foursome has won the championship.
Helping lead the way for the squad was Helminen. His hot play throughout September was able to roll into October with a hitch. He piled up 8 birdies on the way to a 5-under-par 67 in the low pro game. The win netted him a nice $1,500. Finishing in second place was Joe Leonard with a 3-under-par 69.
In the low senior professional contest it was Brad Peck at the top with a 1-over-par 73.
With the help of Oliphant Golf Management the day also featured some great proxy prizes and random giveaways. Taking home a little something extra were,
