After an open week on the tournament schedule, the WPGA was back in action on Monday. The annual National Golf Graphics Pro-Am brought together 29 teams to enjoy a day at Blackhawk CC in Madison. The overcast day brought a little rain, a little sunshine and plenty of fun.
This year’s format would again feature the always challenging net stableford team game. This time around the top 3 net scores for the group would count on each hole. The point system awarded 1 point for a net bogey, 2 points for a net par, 4 points for a net birdie, 6 points for a net eagle and 8 points for a net double eagle or better.
Taking advantage of the home course knowledge and grabbing the win was the Blackhawk team of Michael Higgins, Vance Vlasak, Rimas Buinevicius and Jay Bruner. The foursome was able to pile up 153 points, which helped them squeak out a one point win over the Maple Bluff CC team led by John Bailey. A hot start had them play seven of their first eight holes under par, which is an impressive feat with three of the four balls counting. Higgins and Vlasak would stay hot for the entire day as they would combine for 96 points.
In addition to the win the team also punched their ticket to the Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship. Claiming the final two spots on the day were the Bailey led group and the Blackhawk CC team with Matt Hartmann.
The day also featured low amateur, low professional, low senior professional stableford events and some proxy contests on the Par 3s.
Claiming the wins were;
Low Professional Contest – Michael Higgins – 46 points
Low Senior Professional Contest – Michael Crowley – 44 points
Low Amateur Contest – Scott Dybevik – 52 points
Closest to the Pin #5 (Pros) – Will Young
Closest to the Pin #16 (Amateurs) – Scott Dybevik
Closest to the Pin #18 (Amateurs) – Todd Sitter

A big thank you goes out again to Peter Meyer and National Golf Graphics for their support of the day. Once again Peter was able to put together another great pro-am for all the attendees to enjoy.
The WPGA would also like to send out our appreciation to the members and staff at Blackhawk CC. The club one again did a nice job of hosting, and showed fantastic representation as five teams teed it up from the club.
