The annual Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles Pro-Assistant made its yearly appearance on Monday. The always fun and laid-back day brought together 86 players to tee it up at the challenging Pine Hills CC in Sheboygan.
In addition to battling the opposing teams, the attendees faced a difficult day of gusty winds from the South. Add in the sloping Pine Hills greens, and suddenly birdies became a very sought-after commodity in the 1 best ball of 2 format.
The competition would feature 43 two player teams in the traditional division of play, where a head professional, director of golf or individual in general management pairs up with an assistant professional from their facility.
While the second division of play would be comprised of 14 other teams, which featured two professionals working for the same company or facility, regardless of their PGA classification.
Taking home, the division one title would be the Blackwolf Run duo of Dan Hastreiter and Josh Grisa. The winning squad would tie in regulation with Michael Crowley and Daniel Romero of Morningstar GC. Each team would post a 4-under-par 67 in the difficult conditions. With the coveted title on the line the two teams would tee it up in a hole-by-hole playoff. After matching pars on no. 1, the teams would take dead aim on the second playoff hole. Both Grisa and Crowley would knock it close and have great birdie looks, but with the Pine Hills greens no birdie is a certainty. A make by Grisa and a miss by Crowley would give Hastreiter and Grisa their win. The victorious team would take home $850 each.
In division two the same winning score would lead the way. Carding the mark with a hot start would be Kraig Joy and Ryan Helminen of Ridgeway CC. Their five birdies and only one bogey would help them grab the bragging rights for D2.
For the sixth straight season the WPGA was fortunate to have Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles on board as the title sponsor of the day. As always, the local Club Car distributor did a great job of making sure the event had a great purse and a nice after play meal.
In addition, the WPGA would like to thank our supporting partners, Dunning Golf, the WSGA and the PGA Tour for being a part of this year’s event.
A great deal of appreciation also goes to the Pine Hills CC and their staff. The club did a very nice job of hosting and presented a top-notch product for the attendees to enjoy.
