TRAPPERS TURN PRO-AM

The Wisconsin Section was able to get their slate of June events going with another great trip to Trappers Turn GC on Monday. The club once again rolled out the red carpet for all 108 attendees of the Trappers Turn Pro-Am. The 4th edition of the event was another day that featured beautiful weather, the challenging and fun Lake and Canyon Nines, and another terrific food spread.
Grabbing the headline and winning a nail-biter was the squad of Tim Grogan, Mike Maryarski, Jeff Anderson and Dave Bednarski. The Fore Milwaukee / Morningstar Golfers Club represented team posted an impressive 13-under-par 131 in the one net / one gross best ball format. On a day where the lush rough and tricky greens made scoring difficult, the foursome was able to squeak out a one shot win over the Bisbee’s Golf Center team. Their round was almost flawless as they gave just one shot back to par throughout the day, which came on hole no. 2 on the Lake Course. That score would quickly be erased with a big bounce back on the very nice next hole, by playing it three-under-par.
With their win the squad was able to grab a coveted spot in the Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship at The GC’s of Lawsonia.
In the low professional game it was Evan Wartgow of Koshkonong Mounds CC earning the top spot. Wartgow was the lone player to shoot under par. His 1-under-par 71 included three birdies and an eagle on no. 9 on the Lake Course. Earning the title in the low senior professional contest was Jeff Bisbee with a 2-over-par 74.
In addition to the standard contests the day also featured closest to the pin events for the amateurs in the field. Taking home a pair of tickets to the upcoming American Family Insurance Championship were,

Canyon #4 – Travis Nelson
Canyon #7 – Bryan Laszinski
All Par 3 proxy winners will also be entered into the American Family Insurance Championship – Par 3 Grand Prize Giveaway. At the conclusion of the first three WPGA pro-ams one lucky recipient will be drawn to receive a prize package that includes golf at University Ridge GC and a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses.
A great deal of gratitude goes out to all four of the event partners for Monday’s event. Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles, Under Armour Golf, Tito’s Vodka and Coca Cola provided a fantastic lineup of supporters. With their help the event again had another top notch purse, welcome gifts for all the players and several other nice offerings.
The WPGA would also like to thank and acknowledge Trappers Turn and their staff for all they put into the event. The club did another first class job of recruiting sponsors, rolling out an awesome food spread, and providing first class service to all the attendees.
