WPGA / WGCSA SUPER-PRO
PRESENTED BY

(Riley Thomson, Josh Grisa, Ben Rudolph and Steve Fischer)

The Wisconsin PGA continued its first week of competitive play by teaming up with the Wisconsin Golf Course Superintendents Association for the annual Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles Super-Pro on Wednesday. A field of sixty-eight players from various facilities ventured to The Legend at Bristlecone to enjoy the event. It was another chilly April day but the attendees made the best of the less than ideal conditions.

Nineteen duos teed it up in the traditional division of play, featuring one WPGA affiliated professional and one WGCSA member from the same facility. While the second division was made up of fifteen teams, which included all other teams including a pro/super team that did not have a handicap index.

Leading the way in the traditional division was the Blackwolf Run duo of Josh Grisa and Riley Thomson. The assistants in their respective department at the club were able to post a very impressive 5-under-par 66. With the net modified chapman alternate shot format in play, the event usually finds players apologizing for the spot they just put their partner in. For this duo though there very little of that, as they’d pile up four birdies, an eagle and just one bogey. Without any handicap to help their cause the score would be just enough to beat their Kohler Golf co-workers, David Bach and Chris Zugel. Bach and Zugel came up 1.05 shots shy of matching Grisa and Thomson’s net score.

In the second division of play the twosome of Steve Fischer and Ben Rudolph grabbed the top spot. In a lights out performance the Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles representatives carded a even-par 71 gross score, which translated to net mark of 62.65.

Helping make the day possible once again was title partner, Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles. For the twelfth straight year the company and their representatives provided all the support that was needed to present a great day. A big thank you goes out to Premier Golf & Utility Vehicles for their continued sponsorship of the Super-Pro.

The WPGA and WGCSA would also like to express our appreciation to everyone at The Legend at Bristlecone. Head PGA Professional Paul LoCicero and WGCSA Director of Agronomy Ben LaBarre made sure that the players received first class service from the golf ops side and a nicely conditioned course on the maintenance side.
