The 36th Senior PGA Professional Championship will kick off on Thursday, September 26. This year’s championship heads west as it will be hosted on the Meadows and Woodlands at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon. Sunriver has previously hosted five PGA of America member championships, including the 2024 PGA Cup and the 50th PGA Professional Championship in 2017. It will also host the 2024 Women’s PGA Cup Sept. 30 – Oct. 6.
This year’s event features 264 PGA Professionals who are at least 50 years of age and represent all 41 PGA sections.
Representing the Wisconsin PGA are Michael Crowley, Jim Schuman, Mick Smith and Mark Voeller.
Smith leads the way for the Wisconsin Section foursome as he has been a dominant force in Wisconsin PGA events recently. In just September alone he won the Wisconsin State Senior Open, Wisconsin PGA Professional Championship and WPGA Senior Match Play Championship.
The 72-hole Championship will run from Thursday until Sunday, with players competing for a purse of over $335,000. Each player will play one round on the Meadows and Woodlands during the first two days of play. Then after the second round of play the field will be cut to the low 90 players and ties. There will then be another cut after 54 holes of play, leaving the low 70 and ties to compete on the final day. The final two rounds of play will take place on the Meadows Course.
Also at stake is a chance to qualify for the 2025 Senior PGA Championship next May at Congressional Country Club. The low 35 players will earn a chance to tee it up at the first senior major championship of the year.
