It was a chilly summer day but the weather did not dampen the experience for the twenty-nine teams that traveled to Blackwolf Run for the River Course Pro-Am on Monday. Once again the world class facility put on a great show for the attendees, as they enjoyed top notch course conditions and other great offerings. The day marked the first time the River Course was featured at the annual Kohler Golf hosted pro-am.

Maneuvering through the demanding native grasses, challenging bodies of the water and slick greens the best, was the squad of Rob Elliott, Jamie Ireland, Jim Carlos and Tyler Foti. The foursome avoided the big number in the team net stableford game and was able to post 111 points. En route to their win they were able to pile up 17 net birdies and 2 net eagles.

The score was good enough to hold off the Brian Brodell led group by three points.

The point system counted the low two net balls on each hole and featured the following point system,

0 – Net Double Bogey, 1 pt – Net Bogey, 2pts – Net Par, 4pts – Net Birdie, 6pts – Net Eagle, 8pts – Net Double Eagle.

In the low professional event it was Craig Czerniejewski of Washington County GC setting the pace. He was able to accumulate 43 points to win by two points over Charlie Brown and Brian Brodell.

Although he came up a little short in the low pro game, Brown was able to lead the way for the senior professionals.

A big thank you goes out to our four event partners, they all helped enhance and make it a great day for the attendees. On board to support this year’s Blackwolf Run – River Course Pro-Am was Under Armour Golf (Dave Denoyer), Integrated Payment Services (Dave Miley), Fairways to Heaven Golf Travel (David Reid) and the American Family Insurance Championship (Nate Pokrass).

As always a great deal of gratitude goes out to everyone at Kohler Golf and Blackwolf Run. The WPGA is fortunate to have a great partner in Kohler Golf. Their generosity in hosting multiple junior golf events and a section event on a yearly basis is very much appreciated.
