(Andy Campbell, Foy Swenson, Gary Wrotecki & Ron Fryer)
The Wisconsin PGA Four-Player Pro-Am Series would make its annual stop at Destination Kohler on Monday. For the ninth time in the past ten years the WPGA would bring a sold-out pro-am field to enjoy one of the renowned courses at five-star resort. This year’s edition of the Suter Ward Group at Morgan Stanley Pro-Am would feature the Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run. It would mark the fourth time the Meadow Valleys has hosted during the ten-year run.
The field of 116 players would be in for a treat, as top notch course conditions, first-class service, tasty food, and beautiful weather would accompany the day.
On-course the Meadow Valleys was up to the task again, and provided plenty of challenge for the field. The four-player main contest would have teams trying to put up their best two net score over the course of eighteen holes. In the highest winning score to date on the Meadow Valleys, three teams would tie at the top. Carding a 13-under-par 131 would be the Golf Galaxy Greenfield (Foy Swenson), Ridgeway CC (Ryan Helminen) and adidas Golf (Mike O’Reilly) squads. The Swenson led squad which included Andy Campbell, Gary Wrotecki and Ron Fryer, would earn the bragging rights as they’d win the scorecard playoff for the champion trophies.
With Helminen’s squad already in the Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship field, the three spots in the October event would go to the Swenson, O’Reilly and Pat Stein led groups.
Sweeping the professional stableford contests was Michael Crowley of Morningstar GC. After winning the WPGA Stableford Classic last week, the Fox Point resident would back it up with 40 points and a 4-under-par 68. Finishing two points behind in second place in the low professional contest was host professional, Dan Hastreiter.
In addition to the three main contests the day would also feature some fun proxy contests on the par 3s for the amateurs. Taking home some great prizes via adidas Golf and Tito’s were;
#3 – Matt Flaten, #8 – Brad Evans, #15 – Jamie Sutfin, #17 – Nick Schulz
As always the WPGA Four-Player Pro-Am Series would not be possible without the great support of our events partners. First and foremost we’d like to thank title partner, Vince Suter and The Suter Ward Group. Additionally, our appreciation goes out to adidas Golf and Tito’s Vodka for helping to enhance the day.
Not many PGA sections get the opportunity to visit courses such as the ones at Destination Kohler. Let alone on a yearly basis. The WPGA greatly appreciates the chance to bring this great event to Destination Kohler. The attendees always have fantastic things to say about their experience, and it shows exactly why it is one of the top golf destinations in the world.
