Challenging conditions and a dramatic finish highlighted Monday’s X Golf Milwaukee Pro-Am at Tripoli Country Club, where the team of Michael Crowley, Bruce Jorgensen, Tom Walton, and John Glowacki captured the title with a stellar combination of consistency and late-round heroics.
Played under gusty winds and on Tripoli’s quick greens, the event featured a 1-2-3 Net Best Ball format, with one net best ball counting on par-3s, two net on par-4s, and three net on par-5s.
No team executed better than Crowley’s group.
The champions did not record a team score over par on a single hole all day. Their steady play kept them near the top of the leaderboard throughout the round before a spectacular closing run vaulted them into first place. Playing their final four holes in a remarkable 7-under-par, Crowley, Jorgensen, Walton, and Glowacki secured a one-stroke victory and earned a coveted berth into the season-ending Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship.
The race for the title remained tight until the final scores were posted. The teams led by Wyatt Wilderman and Craig Czerniejewski finished tied for second place, just one shot behind the champions.
Because Czerniejewski’s team had already secured its place in the season-ending championship through a previous qualifying event, the Wilderman and Mark Voeller-led teams secured the final two Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship invitations.
Czerniejewski still capped off an outstanding day by claiming low professional honors. Despite the difficult scoring conditions, he carded an impressive 7-under-par 64 and accumulated 43 Stableford points to win the professional competition by five points.
Ryan Helminen earned low senior professional honors with 35 Stableford points, adding another strong result to his pro-am play thus far this season.
On the amateur side, closest-to-the-pin honors were awarded across several holes. Bruce Jorgensen won on Hole #3, Nate Tiziani claimed honors on Hole #7, Rick Hagen took the prize on Hole #12, and Mike Yorde secured the win on Hole #14.
