(Dean Mehlberg & Jamie Christianson)
Monday brought 100 Wisconsin PGA members and associates together at Horseshoe Bay Golf Club for the Reyes Retail Pro-Assistant, supported by Bushnell Golf, StrackaLine and the PGA Tour.
The event featured two divisions. Division One, the traditional division, consisted of two-player teams with one head professional / director of golf / general manager and one assistant or PGA associate from the same facility, while Division Two featured any two professionals from the same company who did not fit the traditional Pro-Assistant makeup.
It turned out to be a memorable day for Horseshoe Bay Golf Club’s Head PGA Professional, Jamie Christianson, who helped lead two different teams to the top of the Division One leaderboard.
Christianson and assistant professional Dean Mehlberg jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, carding a flawless 12-under-par better ball round. Their scorecard featured an impressive 12 birdies and zero bogeys, helping the home club duo secure a one-stroke victory over Drew Ringelstetter and TJ Walton of Grand Geneva Resort & Spa.
Christianson also teamed up with Race Cuckler, with the twosome finishing third in the Traditional Division with a 10-under-par 62.
The victory was particularly special, as Christianson and Mehlberg became the first host-course team to lift the prestigious Manuel de la Torre Trophy since 2018.
In Division Two, Andy Hansen and Austin Schloesser of Tripoli Country Club took full advantage of the format, putting together an impressive 10-under-par 62.
The duo separated themselves from the field, cruising to a six-shot victory in the division.
Players also had the opportunity to compete for Bushnell Golf closest-to-the-pin honors throughout the day.
Congratulations to the following winners:
Hole No. 3: TJ Walton
Hole No. 5: Kirk Manley
Hole No. 15: Cole Jahnke
Hole No. 17: Nolan Cunniff
