The regular season of the WPGA Four-Player Pro-Am Series wrapped up around dinner time on Monday. The field was fortunate to experience a beautiful September day, as twenty-nine teams made the trip to Tuckaway CC for the PXG Pro-Am.
Making the most of their trip south was the squad from Horseshoe Bay GC. Having traveled the farthest of the teams in the field the foursome of Jamie Christianson, Andrew Morel, Brad Hitt and Tim Schwecke was able to get the job done. In the one net / one gross best ball format they were able to card an impressive 18-under-par 126 total. After playing the first hole at even-par the group would rattle off ten consecutive holes of under-par golf. Their solid play would lead them to a two shot victory over the Ryan Helminen led team.
In addition to their victory the group would claim a spot into the Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship. Joining the Horseshoe Bay team as qualifiers was the Rob Elliott and Jason Samuelian led groups.
Continuing the theme of some great golf, the duo of Helminen and Austin Gaugert would find the top of the board in the low professional contest. They would post 5-under-par 67s and both take home $595 for their efforts.
Just two shots back was low senior professional, Charlie Brown.
In addition to the standard contests the day also featured some proxy contests on the par 3s. Taking home those prizes were;
#3 – Dave Lamken, #8 – Abel Luis, #14 – Carl Valimont, #17 – John Bailey
The WPGA would like to extend our appreciation to our event partners, PXG Golf, Tito’s Vodka and Prestwick Golf Group. The trio of companies really helped to dress up the event and make sure all the attendees enjoyed the day.
A great deal of gratitude goes out to the membership and staff at Tuckaway CC. The course was in great shape and the club is always a willing host of WPGA events.
