For the second straight season the Wisconsin PGA lucked out with an absolutely gorgeous day for the Oliphant Golf Management Pro-Am Championship. The 10th playing of the championship returned to its familiar host site on Monday, the Links Course of The GC’s of Lawsonia.
Once again the field featured 29 foursomes. Teams had to again qualify throughout the eight regular season pro-ams in order to participate. Two teams from the Spring Pro-Ladies and a few sponsor related teams were also invited to play.
This year’s team format featured the go for broke two net best ball. Combining a format that promotes aggressive play and the perfect weather, teams knew they’d have to play really well to make a run at the title.
Securing the win and bringing the trophies back to Blackhawk CC was the foursome of Matt Hartmann, Brad O’Loughlin, Brent Reed and Sharif Chambliss. With every amateur under an 8.7 handicap index, the squad had to pile up the gross birdies and hope their handicap strokes landed on just the right holes. In the end the team made twelve gross birdies, including seven by O’Loughlin.
Their 22-under-par 122 was good enough to win by two shots over the Scott LeMire and Wyatt Wilderman led teams.
Staking claim to the low professional and low senior professional contest wins was David Roesch. Roesch went out and carded a bogey-free 7-under-par 65. Two of his seven birdies would come on the toughest par 3s on the course, no. 4 and no. 10. His score helped him earn 43 stableford points, enough for a two point win.
As with the past events, the day featured several enhancements courtesy of Oliphant Golf Management. One of those was the closest to the pin contests. Taking home the prizes on the par 3s were:
#4 – Gunnar Stapp
#7 – Cody Strang
#10 – Andy Sturmberg
#12 – Doug Rifleman – HOLE-IN-ONE
#14 – Danny Behm
In addition, they also provided some great raffle prizes for a random draw among the amateur participants. Scott Femal, Dan Kwiecinski, Sharif Chambliss, Andy Sturmberg and Dan Wolfe all took home some new merchandise via the raffle.
For 10 years Oliphant Golf Management and The GC’s of Lawsonia have provided a perfect way to conclude our four-player pro-am series. 2025 was no exception, as they provided a great product for the players to enjoy, all for a modest price. We’d like to thank Oliphant Golf Management and everyone at The GC’s of Lawsonia for helping make it another terrific tournament.
