The WPGA Four-Player Pro-Am Series was back on-course for its third event in the past five weeks on Monday. After starting the year at West Bend, Kohler and Eau Claire, it was fitting that the series would stop in Madison. Hosting the Madison area site was former yearly pro-am host, Blackhawk CC. As for event partners, The Suter Ward Group at Morgan Stanley and Tito’s Vodka teamed up to enhance the day.

A damp morning with showers would go away just in time for the shotgun start. The soft conditions set the stage for teams to go low in the 1,2,3 net better ball format. However, only three par 5s exist at Blackhawk CC, so the opportunities were limited to gain a lot of ground on one hole.

The combination of factors produced a tight battle for the top spot. In the end, eight teams finished within five shots of the lead. The co-champions set the pace at 16-under-par 134. Wyatt Wilderman led his group of Chris Simon, Rod Crevoiserat and Dave Riebau to the mark, while Mark Voeller teamed up with Jason Ryan, Wade Oberle and Rick Hagen to achieve the same score. Both teams managed to play every hole at par or better. They also matched each other on the front and back nine, 65-69.

Voeller and company did grab the edge in the scorecard playoff to take home the champion trophies.

With their finishes, each team claimed a spot in the Oliphant Golf Mangement Pro-Am Championship at The GC’s of Lawsonia in late September. Picking up the third and final spot was Matt Hartmann’s team from Blackhawk CC, just one shot back.

Taking it deep and earning the low professional stableford contest was Craig Czerniejewski. The Washington County GC head PGA professional made nine birdies on the way to 43 stableford points.

Earning the low senior pro contest honors was David Roesch with 41 stableford points.

In addition to the three main contests, the day would also feature some fun proxy contests on the par 3s for the amateurs. Taking home some ProV1s, compliments of The Suter Ward Group were:

#5 – Dan Roloff, #16 – Jason Haen, #18 – Scott Ford

The WPGA would like to express our gratitude to all our event partners. Headlining the day was title sponsor, The Suter Ward Group at Morgan Stanley and Vince Suter. Their support helped elevate the day with a bigger purse and some great add-ons. We’d also like to recognize Tito’s Vodka for jumping on board as a supporting partner.

Our gratitude also goes out to the membership and staff at Blackhawk CC. They always embrace hosting, and the club is very supportive of tournament golf.
