A beautiful spring day greeted the Wisconsin PGA and the participants of the Spring Pro-Pro Scramble on Monday. To say the event was due for one of those days would be an understatement. It marked the first time the event has been played since 2021, after inclement weather forced cancellations the past two years.

Thirty-eight two-player teams would venture to Brighton Dale Links just outside of Kenosha and take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the weather. After the WPGA opened up season in 2013 on the Blue and Spruce course at Brighton Dale Links, this go around would feature teams tackling the White and Birch course.

With the ideal weather it would require an impressive score to take home this year’s title.

Picking up right where they left off in 2023 were the Whistling Straits duo of Jason and David Bach. With a victory and a tie for third place in their first two pro-pros as eligible partners last fall, the field knew they’d be one of the teams to beat.

The pair of brothers would open the front nine would five birdies and a bogey. As they made the turn Robert Leist and Sam Weatherhead were finishing up an impressive 10-under-par 62. The Bachs had some work to get done on the back nine to contend and they wouldn’t waste any time getting down to business.

An opening eagle on the Par-5 10th would get the momentum going. They would then go on a run and birdie the next six holes in a row. The hot streak would give them the lead. With two solid pars on the closing holes, their 8-und-par 28 on the back nine propelled them to a 12-under-par 60.

The score provided them with a two-shot win over the Leist and Weatherhead duo and also Andy Hansen and Keith Buntrock.

In addition to the daily team event, $100 was up for grabs on the Par-3 4th. Knocking it close in the first group of the day was Weatherhead. His shot to under two feet took home the prize courtesy of Range Servant.

The WPGA would like to thank our event partners for their sponsorship of Monday’s event. We were fortunate once again to have a trio of companies that lent some great support to the day. On board enhancing the day were Harris Golf Cars, Homestretch Golf and Range Servant.

A great deal of appreciation also goes out to Brighton Dale Links and their staff for hosting. The course was in nice early season shape and was very accommodating throughout the hosting process.
