ASSISTANT PROFESSIONAL
SPRING CLASSIC
EVENT PARTNERS

A field of 31 PGA associates and A-8 PGA members competed in the Wisconsin PGA Assistant Professional Spring Classic on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Oakwood Park Golf Course. The 18-hole stroke-play event marked the second assistant professional event of the 2026 season and was played under ideal scoring conditions, with temperatures in the mid-70s and a light breeze throughout the day.

David Bach of Whistling Straits ultimately set the pace with a winning 4-under-par 68. Bach got off to a fast start, carding a front-nine 33 highlighted by four birdies against a single bogey. After opening with a par, he put up back-to-back birdies on Nos. 2 and 3, then added a pair of gains on Nos. 6 and 7, and nicely recovered from a bogey at the eighth hole to turn in red figures.

Bach carried momentum into the back nine, adding a birdie at the par-4 10th before navigating a testing finish. He gave shots back with bogeys at Nos. 13 and 18 but offset those setbacks with key birdies at Nos. 15 and 16. When the final putt dropped, his 4-under-par 68 held up as the winning score.

The strongest challenge came from Tim McCormick of Hawks Landing Golf Club, who finished just one shot back at 3-under-par 69. McCormick posted an aggressive six-birdie round at Nos. 2, 3, 7, 10, 14, and 15. However, bogeys at Nos. 13, 16, and 18 proved costly, ultimately keeping him from matching the clubhouse lead despite sustained pressure throughout the afternoon.

Joining him in the runner-up position was Chris Zachman of Milwaukee Country Club. Zachman opened with a bogey at the first hole, but quickly responded with birdies at Nos. 2, 9, 15, and 16. He played the remainder of the course in steady fashion with pars the rest of the way, coming up just one shot shy of forcing a playoff.

In addition to the victory, Bach earned $635 from the primary contest purse and an additional $365 from the Players Purse Bonus Pool, bringing his total earnings to $1,000.

Although very early in the race, Bach now holds nearly an 80-point lead in the Assistant Player of the Year standings.

Oakwood Park Golf Course provided a solid early-season test, rewarding ball striking and approach play throughout the day. The Spring Classic once again gave Wisconsin PGA assistant professionals a competitive platform to measure their games before the season kicks into high gear.

The Wisconsin PGA extends its appreciation to everyone at Oakwood Park Golf Course for their work in conjunction with the event. Special thanks to event partners TaylorMade Golf, Vortex Golf, Titleist, FootJoy, and Callaway for their continued support of Wisconsin PGA events.
