The 2019 WPGA Las Vegas Pro-Am came to a close this past Thursday after a great week of golf, camaraderie and plenty of other fun.   The sold out field of 250 players were treated to rounds at Cascata, Bear’s Best and Rio Secco GC, while enjoying the surroundings of MGM Grand as the host hotel.   The week was also kicked off by a terrific Morgan Stanley Welcome Party at TopGolf Las Vegas on Sunday.

Although the golf rounds featured some breezy and cool conditions the weather could not dampen the spirits of the attendees.  Navigating the challenging weather the best was the squad of Austin Gaugert along with Hidden Glen GC members Travis Dowden, Randy Esenberg, Sean Esenberg and Don Wakeman.   The fivesome was able to card a 45-under-par 395 total over the course of the three days.  They set the tone for the week with their day one win at Cascata with an impressive 22-under-par 122 in the two net format.  With follow up performances of a tie for third and an a tie for sixth in group A, they did just enough to earn a two shot win over the High Cliff GC Corey Feller led team.  Finishing five shots back in third place overall was the Bishops Bay CC team with Head PGA Professional John Shipshock.

In addition to the overall team event the tournament also featured daily team contests.   Besides the aforementioned win by the Hidden Glen GC fivesome on day one for group A, the other winners were,

Group A – Tuesday – Rio Secco GC – 1 Net, 1 Gross – Ridgeway CC (Kraig Joy) & High Cliff GC (Feller)
Group A – Wednesday – Bear’s Best – 1,2,3 Net – High Cliff GC (Feller)
Group B – Monday – Bear’s Best – 1,2,3 Net – Blackhawk CC (Derek Schnarr)
Group B – Tuesday – Cascata – 2 Net – The Legend Clubs (Paul LoCicero)
Group B – Wednesday – Rio Secco – 1 Net, 1 Gross – Chenequa CC (Bill Graham)

On the low professional stableford side of things it was the following individuals taking home the top spot,

Group A – Monday – Cascata – Jim Schuman & Austin Gaugert
Group A – Tuesday – Rio Secco GC – Corey Feller
Group A – Wednesday – Bear’s Best – Jim Schuman
Group B – Monday – Bear’s Best – Mick Smith
Group B – Tuesday – Cascata – Derek Schnarr
Group B – Wednesday – Rio Secco – Mick Smith

Once again the WPGA Las Vegas Pro-Am would not have been possible without the help of our event partners.  A big thank you goes out to Chris Hammond of Nike Golf, Vince Suter, Wealth Advisor & Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley, and Steve Ploch of TaylorMade Golf for their support.

With the help of our event partners and all the loyal return attendees the WPGA was able to sell out the event for the 4th straight year.  The demand for this year’s event was something the WPGA Las Vegas Pro-Am has not experienced since 2007.

Event dates and venues for the 2020 tournament will be released during the upcoming summer months.
