The 2015 WPGA Nike Golf Las Vegas Pro-Am concluded on Thursday afternoon amidst some fantastic sunshine and warmth.  The day provided teams with one last chance to make a run at the coveted crown.  Teams in group A were looking to go as low as possible on the 2 net best ball format at Bear's Best while group B attempted to capitalize on the par 5s as they played the 1,2,3 net best ball at Spanish Trail CC.
In the end the margin the squad from Nakoma GC had built up on the first two days proved to be enough to hold onto the lead and capture their first title.  The long time participants have had several top finishes in the event and were finally able to get over the hump this year.  The group consisting of Brad Peck, Steve Hird, Mike Schlageter, Randy Steinhauer and Mike Yaktus were able to card a 52-under-par 388 total for the three days.  The win though was hard earned as the group had to put together a closing stretch of 9-under-par on the last eight holes to secure the win.  With the victory the squad now has a win, three runner-up finishes and a third place finish in the last eleven years.
Finishing just two shots behind the champions was the group of Mark Voeller, Tom Harwood, Bruce Huibregtse, Jerry Schmidt and Mike Stock of Golf Galaxy.  Along with the close finish at the top the event, the final standings also featured what is possibly the most competitive WPGA Nike Golf Las Vegas Pro-Am to date.  The final scores featured eleven teams finishing within eleven shots of the lead.
In the daily competitions on Thursday there were two ties at the top.  In group A the Ridgeway CC group led by Ryan Helminen tied with the Derek Schnarr led Blackhawk group at 17-under-par 127.  On the other side of the event, group b featured a tie between the Mike Johnston captained Versatile Vehicles squad and Voeller led Golf Galaxy team.
In the low professional competitions some impressive golf was once again played.  Group A was once again paced by Ryan Helminen as he carded 27 stableford points and in group B Mike Johnston got the job done with 24 stableford points
Once again a fantastic week in sin city was helped made possible by our title sponsor, Nike Golf.  The company and their representatives once again provided the support that was needed to make it another great event.  From closest to pin prizes to great gifts, their influence was felt throughout the week.  The WPGA would like to thank Nick Jahnke, Joe Ritchie and Bob Tierney for their continued support.
