WPGA Fall Destination Pro-Am
This past week the 2017 WPGA Scottsdale Pro-Am came to a close, as the week featured plenty of great weather and golf. The trip marked the fifth time in eight years that the Wisconsin PGA headed west to enjoy one of the best golf destinations in the United States. The field of fifteen foursomes got the opportunity to tee it up at the Pinnacle course at Troon North GC, the Cholla course at We-Ko-Pa GC and finally wrap up the trip on the Monument course at Troon North GC.
In the end the squad of David Roesch, Mike Stock, Vince Suter and Jerry Schmidt were able to get the job done and take home the victory. Representing Storm's Golf Range and North Hills Country Club, the foursome set the stage for their overall win with a scorching good round on Tuesday at We-Ko-Pa GC. The day featured a five shot team win in the 1,2,3 net best ball format where the team posted an impressive 16 natural birdies. Combined with two other great rounds they were able to post a winning score of 43-under-par, 395.
The squad of Ryan Helminen, Kerry Baugher, Paul Zimmer and Mark Langston made a valiant push for the win by winning the day three event, but in the end they came up 3 shots short of tying the Roesch squad.
The 54-hole event also featured low professional stableford contests each day. Taking home the wins each day were Ryan Helminen (Rd 1 - Pinnacle - 23 points), David Roesch (Rd 2 - Cholla - 32 points) and Michael Crowley / David Roesch (Rd 3 - Monument - 25 points).
A big thank you goes out to Troon North and We-Ko-Pa GC for hosting this year’s event. The courses were very well received and drew numerous positive comments.
The WPGA would also like to thank adidas Golf and Matt Flaten for supporting our trip. With their help the players took home a fantastic gift package when they finished up their first round.
